    Bio

    Shruthipriyā Vignesh ("shrú-thī-pri-yā") is a dynamic, seasoned, and sought-after Bharatanātyam artiste—and has been a performer now for over 27 years.

    Blessed with what can only be described as a disarming simplicity, true sincerity and an undying passion for the fine arts since her very early years in the city of Chennai, in southern India—Shruthi, as she is also known—was initiated into dance as early as when she was 4, by Shri J. Suryanārayana Mūrthy. Having undergone abhinayā training under the tutelage of Smt. Braghā Bessell, since 2009, Shruthipriyā has most recently been a disciple under the guidance of Smt. Nithyakalyāni Vaidyanāthan. Having had her Salangai Pūja on 2 October 2002 at the tender age of 7, and her Arangētram on 14 August 2004, Shruthi kicked off her solo performing career at the now-legendary Kārtik Fine Arts on a fine fall evening—11 November 2006.

    Since then, Shruthipriyā has rendered numerous solo performances on leading stages, and at sabhās all over India and around the worldin addition to working on music & dance productions under various renowned gurūs, and as a "B"-graded artiste at Doordarshan, in India. Shruthipriyā first joined Padma Shri Leela Samson's Spanda Dance Company as a performer in 2019. She is also an empanelled artist at SPIC MACAY, and was part of the Workshop Demonstration Series at government-run schools in Uttarakhand, also in 2019.

    Some of the other many luminaries & illustrious artists that Shruthi has had the privilege to work withinclude Prof. C. V. Chandrasekhar, Pandit Shri Birju Maharāj, Smt. Rhādhā, Smt. Mālavikā Sarukkai, Smt. Sāvitri Jagannātha Rao, Smt. Jayanthi Subramaniam, Smt. Anithā Guhā, Shri Jaikishore Mosalikanti, Smt. Narthaki Natarāj & Smt. Ambikā Buch. Shruthipriyā was a part of the Cleveland Thyagarāja Festival in 2014, 2015 and 2017, and also toured the United States of America under the AIM FOR SEVA banner in the years 2015 and 2018.

    Founding Purpose

    Sampradāya was founded by Shruthipriyā in 2013 with the mission of helping students become artists who could contribute positively to society. Sampradāya aims to help dancers blossom into artists, akin to a flower rooted in dedication and hard work, spreading the fragrance of love, joy, and happiness.

    At Sampradāya, Bharatanātyam is taught to students by helping them understand ‘art’ through individual experienceat their own pace and as an organic processto connect their inner selves with the positive energy around them.

    Sampradāya currently has Shri. Sreejith Sree, a disciple of Shri. Girish Madhu, as an additional permanent faculty member.
